Why Indian Confinement Care?

Indian confinement care, often referred to as “postpartum confinement,” is a traditional practice aimed at promoting the recovery and well-being of new mothers after childbirth. This period typically lasts for about 40 days, although the duration may vary based on cultural beliefs and individual preferences.

During this time, the new mother is provided with special care, support, and guidance to aid her physical and emotional recovery from childbirth. Here are some common elements of Indian confinement care:

Nutritious Diet

Special attention is given to the mother's diet during confinement. Traditional Indian foods believed to promote healing and strength, such as soups, broths, lentils, vegetables, and herbal teas, are often included. Spices and herbs like fenugreek, cumin, garlic, and ginger are also commonly used for their purported health benefits.

The new mother is encouraged to rest as much as possible during confinement. Family members often assist with household chores and caring for the newborn so that the mother can focus on recovery.
